To You Who May Inspire Me

To you who may inspire me,

If I was better with words, I’d write you a song; I’d finish a novel; I’d give you a speech. As words aren’t my strong suit, we are left with this: a letter to convey how much I admire you. You taught me many lessons; not through words but actions. And although this may seem out of the blue; I just need to tell these things to you. I wish there was less time from when you come home to when you leave again. I wish I had paid more attention when you were here; huddled close like a box of chocolates, just as sweat and twice as cozy. But as I wasted that opportunity, let me tell you now all the things I admire about you.

You shine like the night sky. You twinkle like the stars. You pull others into your orbit; to them, you are the sun. You are the ground I walk upon, steady and strong. You are the breeze that cools me, bringing me back into my own mind. Like foxfire, you flare your fathomless faith and fearsome friendliness; not once do you ever let it fade. You are always there for me and for that cherish you.

With love and good wishes,

That Whom You Inspire
